How do I record a voice memo with the screen locked on my phone or computer?

The Voice Memos app on iPhone allows for voice recordings to be made even when the screen is locked.

Once the recording has started, tapping on the screen or unlocking the device will immediately bring up the recording screen.

There is currently no way to disable Voice Memo recording when the lock screen comes on.

To start a recording, open the Voice Memos app and tap the red button to begin, then tap "Stop" when finished.

It is possible to multitask while recording, including hiding the voice recording by going back to the Home Screen and opening another app.

Shortcuts can be set up to start a new recording with a locked screen, such as using Siri or adding a Voice Memos shortcut as a button on the Widget screen.

On certain iPhone models, it is possible to see the recording progress in the Dynamic Island at the top of the Home Screen during recording.

Voice Memos stops recording if another app starts playing audio on the device.

A workaround to pause Voice Memos when the device is locked is to download the note to files and then locate the file and play it, which will override the screen lock.

An alternative method for recording voice memos is to use the "Voice Memos" app and then send the recording as a file rather than sending a voice memo within the iMessage app.

A hands-free audio recording option is possible with Activator Gesture by performing a gesture that immediately starts the recording, ensuring completely hands-free audio recording.

Voice Memo Toggle for Activator doesn't have a menu or SpringBoard icon of its own.
